Just Water and Knowledge

blue

we are all

just water and knowledge

little dust at the beginning

remaining only on the surface

‘til the breeze has it’s way

rippling with laughter

across years of wash

while a moment is filled

with a flowing grace

unrecognized or shunned

by a will diminished at each turn

as desire pulls at us

like roots wrinkled with age

as the seas loom in the distance

forgetting we were made

from beneath the sky

rising slowly after each fall

to cascade with light

while mercy covers our soul

and wisdom wanes into a well

My Dearest You

3-6-13

I flew away

with my heart still in her hand

my sister, my friend, my strength.

The clouds called to me

she’ll hold it safely

return it to me someday.

My being seemed to shrink

crumpled in lonely doubts,

yet she smiled fiercely

through her tears,

only for me.

She burst love across

a hillside of flowers,

scattered beauty stretching

for miles,

and miles,

to reach me.

Her honesty falls like

a summer rain of mischief,

a fresh white snow cleansing my pain,

a butterfly’s kiss needed each moment.

I’ve always trusted her hope in me,

inspiring me to follow my dreams,

when others won’t.

Her spirit baffles all torment,

her belief in me forever soars.

She is the essence,

she is the meaning

of Sister,

My Dearest You.

Closer than the Wind

Closer than the Wind

2-17-13

~

The praise of evensong,

the Hallelujah of a sunrise,

the presence of light,

balance of dark,

making light shine

brighter.

Wolf call longing psalm,

sunset of peace,

whispering wind a hymn,

belief in the beyond,

today fawning enough.

Questions rising from an owl

echo back Holiness,

each time we love.

Birds honoring the Son of the Morning,

beasts raving obedience,

shining loyal devotion.

No selfish thoughts;

see their instinct

 drawing them

closer than the wind?
