Fading in a Sigh

time slowed almost to a stop

as she wondered

what was it all for

picking at a scab

wind blowing her hair

dreams dying as she inhaled

the past fading in a sigh

remembering a stormy childhood

of lilac scented thoughts

trees climbed barefooted

swaying at the tops of leaves

staring at curled up toes

eighty years later

a life flowed on by

filled up hills and valleys

did she change a thing

stop or alter the beginning

create a special ending

or sail silently across

a lilac scented illusion
